Hamas rejected a plan to deploy foreign troops in Gaza
The radical Palestinian movement Hamas rejects the plan to deploy foreign stabilization forces in the Gaza Strip. This was reported on November 16 by Al Jazeera TV channel with reference to the corresponding statement.
It is specified that the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) must vote on a resolution that provides for the deployment of about 20,000 foreign troops in Gaza. In its appeal, Hamas called on Algeria, a non—permanent member of the UN Security Council, to reject the plan.
"We make a sincere and fraternal appeal to the Republic of Algeria, its Government and people to continue to adhere to their principled positions in support of Palestine and resolutely reject any projects directed against the identity of Gaza and the right of our people to self—determination," the representatives of the group said.
It is noted that the movement considers the introduction of foreign military personnel into the region as an attempt to "impose another form of occupation" on Palestinian land.
On the same day, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz ruled out the creation of a Palestinian state. According to him, Gaza will be demilitarized down to the last tunnel, and the Hamas movement will be disarmed.
Earlier, on October 29, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced a return to observing the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip after a series of attacks on dozens of targets of Palestinian radical movements. According to the IDF, the attacks were directed against the command level of the groups operating in the area.
