Syrian Defense Minister meets with Russian delegation in Damascus

The Minister of Defense of the Syrian Transitional Government, Murhaf Abu Kasra, held talks in Damascus with the Russian delegation, headed by Deputy Defense Minister Yunus-Bek Yevkurov. The meeting was announced on November 16 on the official Facebook page of the Syrian department (the owner is Meta company, recognized in Russia as extremist and banned).

According to the Syrian side, issues of strengthening cooperation between the two countries were discussed.

"During the meeting, issues of military cooperation and strengthening coordination mechanisms that serve common interests and follow the aspirations of the two countries were discussed," the publication noted.

Earlier, on July 31, it was reported that Russia expressed interest in normalizing the situation in Syria and supporting the transition process.
