Tablets for dishwashers can pose a danger to human health and the environment. About this on November 16, "Gazeta.Ru," said Andrey Dorokhov, Associate Professor of the Department of Inorganic Chemistry at RTU MIREA.

According to him, most industrial tablets contain surfactants, enzymes and bleaches, which, if not rinsed sufficiently, can disrupt the intestinal microflora and cause allergic reactions.

"Some of them, for example, ethoxylates of fatty alcohols, sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) and chlorine-containing compounds, can cause irritation of mucous membranes, skin and respiratory tract, as well as allergic reactions...> Children, the elderly, and patients with chronic gastrointestinal diseases are especially sensitive to such effects," Dorokhov explained.

He added that it is safer to use tablets with sodium percarbonate and strictly follow the instructions: the water temperature should not be lower than 55 ° C, and the washing cycle should not be shorter than 90 minutes. The chemist also noted the availability of environmentally friendly alternatives based on citrates, bicarbonates and plant surfactants, which are safer for humans and nature.

Earlier, on August 13, it was reported that Russians began to repair household appliances more often instead of buying new ones. In the summer of 2025, interest in the repair and maintenance of household appliances increased by 21%, especially air conditioners, refrigerators and dishwashers.
