Suspects in the shootout in Sukhumi have been detained. This was announced on November 14 by the press service of the President of Abkhazia, Badre Gunba.

"The night before, the operational services identified and detained a number of persons who were taken to the temporary detention facility of the State Security Service, where operational investigative measures are being carried out with them," the website says.

It is noted that one of the suspects was detained in Adler thanks to the help of Russian colleagues. The issue of its transfer and delivery to the territory of Abkhazia is currently being resolved. Gunba took personal control of the investigation of a high-profile criminal case, stating the need to promptly provide all the information he had gathered.

The President stressed that "it will be necessary to quickly and carefully consolidate the materials of the investigation so that the criminals receive the punishment they deserve," noting the fundamental importance of the openness of the process to society. Gunba also thanked the law enforcement officers for their work, describing their actions as good, and instructed them to mark the distinguished employees. He emphasized that the disclosure of this crime is a matter of honor, and society should see that such crimes are fully disclosed, and the perpetrators are responsible.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Abkhazia reported a shootout in Sukhumi on November 11. An interception plan was announced to search for the criminal in the city, and units of the criminal investigation Department and the SOBR participated in the operation. Later, on November 13, one of the five victims of the shooting died in the Sukhumi Republican Hospital.
