On average, Russians spend 2 hours and 44 minutes on social media (which includes social networks, video hosting, instant messengers and blogs), which is approximately 51% of the total user activity on the Internet. This was announced by Alexander Vorontsov, the leading manager of the Mediascope customer support sector.

The Internet audience in October 2025 is 105 million people, which is 86% of the Russian population over the age of 12. On average, Russians spend 4 hours and 21 minutes a day on the Internet, Vorontsov noted. Social media accounts for 51% of the total Internet usage time, which is almost 2 hours and 44 minutes per day per user.

"This graph shows the monthly coverage of the three largest messengers in Russia.: WhatsApp (owned by the extremist Meta company, which is banned in Russia), Telegram and Max. WhatsApp and Telegram are very close in terms of monthly coverage — in October, 78-74%, respectively. The monthly coverage of the Max messenger was 39% coverage in October 2025," Vorontsov said during a session of the National Advertising Forum.

According to him, the restriction of calls in foreign messengers has also had an impact on reducing the amount of time people spend in them. People began to spend less time on WhatsApp, which cannot be said about Telegram, since Telegram channels attract users.

In June, Ruslan Tagiev, CEO of Mediascope, said that almost 60% of the time Russians spend on social media is spent on domestic services. According to him, Russians spend most of their time on VKontakte, Odnoklassniki, Zen, Rutube, and Telegram.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
