The expert named spectacular ways to decorate an apartment with garlands for the New Year

New Year and Christmas are approaching, it's time to think about the festive decoration of the house. Decorative lighting solutions, especially garlands, create a special comfort in the interior. Yulia Kuzmicheva, the Decor manager at Arlight, told Izvestia on November 17 how to choose the right options and design the space in a non-standard way.

The most versatile option, according to the expert, is a "dew" type garland. Outwardly, it looks like the "thread" we are used to, but the wire is not made of cable, but of a thin flexible wire that is invisible on the Christmas tree. Such a garland gives the effect of a "starry sky" with light lights.

"When decorating a Christmas tree with a rosa garland, it is important to distribute the LEDs evenly and not pull the wire too tight so as not to damage the branches. It is better to start winding from the lower branches. A 10 m garland is usually enough for a 1.5 m high Christmas tree," Kuzmicheva said.

In addition, you can use live fir branches to create a tabletop composition. This year, it is important to arrange them in a tall cylindrical vase using cones, stabilized dried orange slices and a dew garland. 1-2 m of garland will be enough for such a composition, the expert specified.

As for lighting on windows or walls, Kuzmicheva added, it is recommended to use a "fringe" type garland. It consists of strands of different lengths with LEDs. For a standard window, a "fringe" measuring 2.4 m by 60 cm is suitable, it is better to attach it to transparent hooks with suction cups.

"To create festive lighting on the windows, you can use a monochrome garland curtain. Unlike the fringe, all the threads on such a garland are the same length, and this forms a dense light canvas that evenly fills the space," the specialist explained.

The expert recommends decorating doorways with nobilis or fir branches, then adding a classic string garland to them. From this garland, you can also lay out New Year's figures on the wall — a Christmas tree, a snowman, a Christmas ball — decorations from the past are coming back into fashion.

On November 16, Ksenia Kuznetsova, designer and product director of the interior company Mr.Doors, told Izvestia which directions will determine the style of the festive decor. According to her, natural motifs continue to strengthen their positions: fir branches, wood, cotton, berries, cones and nuts are in the trend. Such elements are suitable both for decorating fir trees and for interior compositions, creating an atmosphere of naturalness and warmth. The retro-referenced decor also remains relevant. Family toys and timeless items are valued for their authenticity and ability to form an emotional bond between generations.
