Lawyer warned Russians about fines for keeping dangerous animals in apartments
Russians can be fined for keeping animals in their apartments, which belong to the list of dangerous species and are prohibited for domestic maintenance. This was announced on November 14 by Oleg Cherkasov, the leading lawyer of the EUS.
According to him, the 2018 law on the responsible treatment of animals mentioned a ban on the maintenance of certain species, but for a long time there was no specific list. Because of this, snakes, crocodiles, and even tigers were often found in residential areas.
The situation changed in May 2024, when the government approved a list of 121 species of dangerous animals. The order has been in effect since September 1 and completely prohibits their keeping outside zoos, aquariums and specially equipped centers. The list includes reptiles, amphibians, arachnids, mammals, birds, cartilaginous and bony fish, as well as coral polyps.
"If keeping prohibited animals has caused harm to life or health, or damage to other people's property, the punishment will be stricter: a fine for citizens in the amount of 10 to 15 thousand, for officials — from 50 to 100 thousand, for legal entities — from 100 to 200 thousand rubles," Cherkasov told the agency.Prime."
Earlier, on October 1, it was reported that State Duma Deputy Igor Antropenko proposed banning the keeping of potentially dangerous dog breeds in apartment buildings. He noted that such animals can pose a risk in public areas, including entrances and elevators.
