Simonov's death at the age of 68 became known earlier that day. The cause of the actor's death was heart failure. Simonov is known for his filmography, which includes about 157 roles, including such famous films as "Dyatlov Pass", "Children of Arbat", "Single people are provided with a dormitory", "One love in a million" and "Psycho".

Shortly after, Danila Gnido, an actor at the Vakhtangov Theater, said that Simonov's death was a real disaster.
