Aurora cinema in Krasnodar will be transformed into a multifunctional center
After the restoration of the Aurora cinema, a multifunctional cultural and leisure center will appear in Krasnodar. There will be a cinema hall for 1.2 thousand spectators, an author's cuisine restaurant, a food court, a media space and an underground parking lot. The authorities promise to preserve the historical appearance of the legendary cinema.
RBC Krasnodar, with reference to the city's Office of Investment and Development of the Northern Sea Route, writes that the project provides for the creation of a modern cinema and variety hall of the third comfort level with seats for low-mobility groups in the front rows. The ministry believes that the new cultural and leisure center will enhance the cultural life of the city, improve social integration and unlock the creative potential of citizens.
KrasnodarMedia news agency clarifies that the Aurora cinema was built in 1967 according to the project of architect Evgeny Serdyukov. In 1981, it was recognized as an architectural monument of regional significance. Reconstruction of the cinema began in 2015, but work was suspended due to damage to the supporting structures by the contractor. Court proceedings lasted until 2018.
The reconstruction work was planned to be completed at the end of 2028. The reason for the increase in the period of restoration work is the disruption of logistics chains due to the economic situation, the agency notes.
The Aurora cinema is considered a symbol of Krasnodar. In 2019, magnate, philanthropist and founder of FC Krasnodar Sergey Galitsky decided to restore the cinema.
Earlier it was reported that in Krasnodar, at least until 2027, the resumption of a large-scale reconstruction of the Krasnodar State Circus was postponed. As explained in the regional Department of construction, the beginning of a new stage of construction and installation work requires prior approval of budget allocations. In September, it became known that the completion date of the restoration was postponed to 2029. According to the initial plans, the work was supposed to be completed before 2026. However, one of the reasons for the schedule correction was the significant burden on the regional budget.
