A court in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) has sentenced two Colombian mercenaries, Jose Arona Medina Aranda and Alexander Ante, to 13 years of strict regime. This was reported on November 10 in the press service of the FSB of Russia for the region.
It is specified that the Colombian mercenaries arrived on the territory of Ukraine in November 2023. Then they decided to sign a contract with the 49th separate assault battalion "Carpathian Sich" of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
According to the press service of the department, until July 2024, they took part in hostilities against the Russian Federation, and later they were extradited from Venezuela.
"The Supreme Court of the DPR found Jose Aron Medina Aranda and Alexander Ante guilty of committing a crime under Part 3 of Article 359 of the Criminal Code of Russia ("Mercenary activity")," the message says.
The defendants in the case were sentenced to 13 years in prison to serve their sentences in a high-security penal colony.
Earlier, on September 19, British mercenary Hayden William Davis, who took part in the fighting on the side of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, had his arrest extended. It was clarified that Davis was captured in January 2025 in Donbass and said that in 2021 he was kicked out of the British army. After that, he served as a mercenary in various countries until he ended up in Ukraine.
