Russian SAMBO wrestlers won four gold medals on the second day of the World Cup
The Russians won four gold medals on November 8 on the second day of the World Sambo Championship. The competitions are held in Bishkek from November 7-9.
The men's gold medals were won by Artyom Tadin — combat sambo, up to 98 kg, and Sergey Kiryukhin — sports sambo, up to 88 kg. Taisiya Kireeva and Anastasia Lukanina won the women's combat sambo competitions in the weight categories up to 72 kg and up to 54 kg, respectively.
Viktor Rudenko (up to 79 kg) and Pavel Selivanov (98 kg) won silver medals in the men's competitions among the blind in the SVI-1 class.
The Russians compete at the tournament under the flag of the International Sambo Federation.
Earlier in June, Russian SAMBO wrestlers won 17 medals (seven gold, four silver and six bronze) on the second day of the World Cup in Yerevan. Thus, following the results of two days of competition, domestic athletes won the medal standings of the tournament by a solid margin, winning a total of 36 awards (15 gold, 11 silver, 10 bronze). On the first day of the World Cup, our athletes won 19 medals (eight gold, seven silver and four bronze).
