Former captain of the Russian national football team, Premier League winner Alexey Smertin became an expert at the Skolkovo School of Management. This was reported by the university's press service.
"Smertin is a candidate of psychological sciences. His many years of research and practical experience make his contribution to the development of managerial and team competencies especially valuable," the business school noted.
For more than ten years, he collaborated with the educational institution as a guest lecturer. The field of expertise is leadership, team dynamics, psychology of high efficiency through the prism of big—time sports. His "Playing without a Ball" program has become part of the permanent course.
"A team game always gives you the opportunity to shift responsibility onto someone else, but the one who will ask himself for a long time will win, not be afraid to take risks and take the initiative. Since childhood, it is important to cultivate this tendency, not to stifle it. The education of a strong player depends on a psychological basis, perhaps even more than on "hard" skills," Smertin said in an interview with a representative of the School of Management.
After completing his career, Smertin defended his dissertation and became a candidate of psychological Sciences, he also graduated from the UEFA Master's program in management. Currently, he heads the Department of Sustainable Development and Social Responsibility of the RFU, as well as the Altai Regional Football Federation.
