The EC is concerned about Hungary's issuance of national entry permits for Russians
The European Commission (EC) is concerned about Hungary's continued practice of issuing national entry permits to Russians. This was announced on November 6 by EC representative Markus Lammert at a briefing.
"The European Commission is concerned. The latest information coming from Hungary tells us that Russian citizens continue to receive national permits based on Hungarian legislation, and we are in contact with Hungary on this issue," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.
Lammert clarified that we are not talking about visas, but about national permits.
Politico reported on November 5 on the plans of the European Union (EU) to tighten the conditions for issuing Schengen multivisa visas to Russians this week. It was noted that Russians will now receive single-entry visas in most cases. An exception may be if a person has EU citizenship or humanitarian considerations.
Earlier, on November 4, the EC report on Serbia noted that Russians obtaining Serbian citizenship and the subsequent visa-free regime poses risks for the EU. The report also stated that Serbia "should implement" stricter security checks.
