The Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile traveled a distance of about 6.8 thousand km and reached the test site on Kwajalein Atoll in the Republic of the Marshall Islands. This was announced on November 5 by the 30th wing of the US Space Forces.

The military department's statement notes that the launch was carried out without combat equipment.

"The unarmed part of the ICBM traveled about 4.2 thousand miles to the test site <...> on the Kwajalein Atoll in the Republic of the Marshall Islands," a statement on the base's official website said.

The American command clarified that the test was planned and was aimed at verifying the reliability and combat readiness of the US nuclear deterrent forces.

On October 29, US President Donald Trump issued a statement in which he said that he had instructed the Pentagon to begin testing nuclear weapons "on an equal basis." According to the president, the process should begin "immediately." At the same time, earlier that day, Trump refused to answer a question from reporters about the reasons for the start of weapons testing.

On November 2, the head of the US Department of Energy, Chris Wright, announced that Washington's nuclear tests would be subcritical — they would take place without nuclear explosions. He explained that the tests are aimed at verifying the operation of nuclear weapons systems and developing more reliable warheads, and residents near the Nevada test site should not worry about possible risks.
