The Ministry of Industry and Trade reported a decrease in the Russian car market by 22%

The new car market in Russia in January – October 2025 amounted to almost 1.2 million units, which is 22% less than in the same period last year. This is stated in the report of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, which was received by Izvestia on November 5. The calculations take into account cars under the age of three years.

The market volume in the passenger car segment for 10 months amounted to 1.05 million units (-20%), in the segment of light commercial vehicles — 86.7 thousand units (-23%), trucks — 46.4 thousand units (-56%), buses — 9587 units (-42%). The market for new cars of domestic production exceeded 657 thousand units, which is 3% less than in January – October 2024.

The share of Russian equipment in January-October 2025 increased by 11 percentage points compared to the same period last year and reached 55%. Sales of electric cars amounted to 10.4 thousand units (-38%), of which the share of those manufactured in the Russian Federation was 32% (12 percentage points more than last year).

Also, in mid-autumn, 183.4 thousand new cars were sold, which is 34% more than the results of the previous month, and 81.7% more than the results of June, which turned out to be one of the "lowest" months of the current year, the ministry noted. The volume of sales of cars produced in the Russian Federation amounted to 100.7 thousand units, which is 9% more than in October 2024. Sales of imported cars for the month amounted to 82.7 thousand units, which is 22.8% less than a year ago.
