US President Donald Trump's decision to conduct nuclear weapons tests weakens the international system of security and peace, as well as demonstrates growing tensions. This was announced on November 4 by the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, on the LCI TV channel.

"I think this is a weakening of the peace system, possibly the non-proliferation system. This is a manifestation of the existing deep crisis," TASS quoted him as saying.

He questioned whether Trump's words about the allegedly "secret" nuclear tests of Russia and China were true.

"I do not know if this is true or not, but as for traditional tests, we have an international monitoring system created in accordance with the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty and controlled by an Italian organization close to mine that is involved in the prohibition of nuclear tests and can immediately record such phenomena. In any case, test after test, rocket after rocket, this is not good news," the head of the IAEA said.

Grossi also stressed the uncertainty in the statements of the American side regarding the type of alleged tests. He called for "restoring the role of the UN in maintaining peace and international security" and protecting the nuclear non-proliferation regime in this context.

On October 29, Trump instructed the US Department of War to begin testing nuclear weapons on an equal basis. According to him, such a rush is due to the tests by Russia and China, the countries that, according to Trump, occupy the second and third places in the development of the military-industrial complex (MIC).

On November 2, Chris Wright, the head of the US Department of Energy, announced that the US nuclear tests would be subcritical. They will take place without nuclear explosions. He also explained that the tests are aimed at verifying the operation of nuclear weapons systems and developing more reliable warheads, and residents near the Nevada test site should not worry about possible risks.
