Over the past day, 252 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 24 people were killed and 281 injured. 17 of the dead were drivers and passengers. This was reported to Izvestia on October 29 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

12 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which one person was killed, and 13 more road users, including one child, needed medical help. Half of the bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by their drivers.

As a result of 110 accidents, 59 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 51 outside their area of operation, seven pedestrians were killed, and 109 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured were 20 child pedestrians, 11 of whom were injured while crossing the roadway at designated locations. 35 accidents involving minors were also registered, in which 36 young road users, including 12 passengers, were injured. There are no dead children.

In some regions of the country, temporary traffic restrictions have been introduced for certain categories of transport due to adverse weather conditions. So, in the Khabarovsk Territory, due to strong crosswinds, snowfall and limited visibility, bus traffic has been temporarily restricted since yesterday evening on the section of the Khabarovsk- Lidoga - Vanino—Komsomolsk—on—Amur federal highway from 397 km to 533 km, as well as on another highway of regional significance.

The State Traffic Inspectorate recommended that motorists, when planning long-distance trips, first familiarize themselves with the weather forecast and media information about possible overlap sites, outlining detour routes in advance. In case of traffic restrictions or closure of road sections due to worsening weather conditions, information is promptly posted on the website of the State Traffic Inspectorate, as well as on the official pages of the service's departments in social networks.

"We draw the attention of drivers to the fact that with the onset of deep autumn and its unstable weather, one should be extremely careful when driving: avoid sudden rash maneuvers and realignments on roads slippery from frequent rains or the first snow, observe the interval and distance between vehicles, do not exceed the set speed. Change the tires on the wheels to "winter" tires in a timely manner — according to the season," said Police Colonel Anton Belan, Deputy head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of child traffic injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

He also reminded that external lighting devices should be turned on while driving, fog lights must be used in bad weather, and in conditions of heavy fog, rain or snowfall, reduce speed as much as possible and move with the alarm lights on.

Earlier, on October 7, it became known that 7.9 thousand people were registered in Russia in nine months. Accidents involving drivers who are intoxicated, which is 12.3% less than in the same period last year.
