South Korean President to officially appoint new ambassador to Russia in November
The Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Russia should be appointed in November, the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Moscow told Izvestia on October 27.
"The agreement was signed by the Russian government. As far as I understand, it has already been signed. Therefore, the next step will be the appointment of the President of Korea. The appointment is expected to take place in November," the diplomatic mission said.
Earlier, South Korean media reported that 70-year-old former ambassador Lee Seok-pae would return to work as the head of the republic's diplomatic mission. He has already served as Ambassador to the Russian Federation from 2019 to 2022.
Earlier, on October 19, it was reported that South Korea significantly increased imports of wheat and corn from Russia from January to September 2025, with shipments increasing fourfold and one and a half times, respectively. It was clarified that according to the results of the first three quarters of 2025, Russia was fifth in the ranking of supplier countries to South Korea.
