"We are ready to host such a meeting at any time. <...> We have good relations with both sides, and we are a country that has earned the trust of both sides. This gives us an advantage on the path to peace, and we intend to use this situation for the benefit of humanity," Erdogan said, quoted by RIA Novosti.
In addition, the Turkish president stressed that any dialogue is useful for resolving the conflict in Ukraine.
On October 16, US President Donald Trump announced a meeting with Putin, which was to take place in Budapest this week. However, on October 22, the American leader said that the planned negotiations would not take place, as it was "not the right moment" for them.
Vladimir Putin, in turn, pointed out that the idea of holding a summit between Russia and the United States in Budapest was proposed by the American side, and explained Trump's words about the summit by the desire to postpone the meeting.
On October 23, White House press Secretary Caroline Leavitt said that the meeting between Putin and Trump had not been completely removed from the agenda, but it needed to produce a positive result. According to her, the administration of the American president wants to make sure that the dialogue will have a positive result.
