- A resident of Vorkuta received 15 years for trying to persuade his son to defect to Ukraine.
A resident of Vorkuta was sentenced to 15 years of strict regime for trying to persuade his son, a participant in a special military operation, to surrender and defect to Ukraine. This was reported by Kommersant on October 20.
The Federal Security Service for the Komi Republic noted that the defendant posted publications in the Telegram messenger approving the activities of Ukrainian paramilitary groups, including those recognized as terrorist and banned in the Russian Federation.
During the investigation, it turned out that in March last year, a man tried to persuade his son, who served in the special operation zone, to surrender and then join one of the pro-Ukrainian units.
The man did not deny the authenticity of the correspondence, but claimed that it was humorous. The court found his actions criminal and handed down a harsh sentence.
On October 20, the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation reported that the Second Western District Military Court had handed down a verdict in a criminal case against two Russian citizens under the article on treason. According to investigators, the men were carrying out a task for representatives of the GUR MOU, for which they purchased a batch of SIM cards, then activated them and then sent them to Ukraine.
