The Kremlin commented on the choice of Hungary as a meeting place for Putin and Trump
Hungary holds a special position in terms of sovereignty and upholding its interests, which is respected. This was stated on October 17 by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, answering a question about the choice of Budapest as a meeting place for the presidents of Russia and the United States, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump.
"Hungary, as a country of both NATO and the EU, nevertheless occupies a special position in terms of its sovereignty, in terms of upholding its interests. This commands the respect of the leaders," he said at a briefing.
