Avatr 12 fastback has been certified in Russia

Chang'an Motors Rus has certified the new Avatr 12 five-door fastback in Russia. The model has received Vehicle Type Approval (OTT). — The full specifications and cost of the Avatr 12 will be published in the coming months, and sales are scheduled to start before the end of the year, the Russian representative office of the brand said in a statement received by Izvestia on October 17.

The length of the Avatr 12 is 5020 mm with a wheelbase of 3020 mm. The model has a sweeping silhouette and a panoramic glass roof that seamlessly merges into the rear glazing. The interior is designed in a minimalist style and decorated with natural materials. The electric car is equipped with an air suspension with electronically controlled shock absorbers.

The electric car will be available in seven colors, including matte purple. There are three design options available in the interior — light, dark and combined with bright accents. Four trim levels have been announced, which will include a sporty exterior package, cameras instead of side mirrors, and different wheel design options.

Changan announced the launch of the Avatr luxury brand of electric vehicles in Russia in November last year. The brand was created in partnership with the Chinese IT giant Huawei. Sales of the Avatr 11 electric crossover started in Russia at the end of January. The model is presented in Russia in three versions, which differ in the power plant and interior layout.

The day before, it was reported that Volkswagen would discontinue production of the Touareg model in 2026. The brand's flagship crossover will not receive a direct successor, but it is possible that an electric car will enter the market under this name in a few years.
