- Russian cosmonauts have completed the installation of equipment on the surface of the ISS
Roscosmos cosmonauts Sergey Ryzhikov and Alexey Zubritsky have completed work in outer space to install scientific equipment on the outer surface of the International Space Station (ISS). This follows from the Roscosmos broadcast on October 17.
Ryzhikov and Zubritsky went into outer space from the ISS the day before at 20:10 Moscow time. The duration of the release was 6 hours and 11 minutes.
At that time, the astronauts installed equipment for growing semiconductors in outer space (the Ekran-M experiment) on the Nauka module.
They also dismantled and pushed away the high-resolution camera on the Zvezda module, as well as cleaned the porthole. In addition, the astronauts removed a removable cassette container from the Poisk module. The ERA manipulator was used to support work in outer space.
Earlier, on October 15, it was reported that the Rocket and Space Corporation Energia (RSC, part of Roscosmos) had registered a patent for a space system that creates artificial gravity. The authors noted that the rotation of the system will create an overload of up to 0.5 g (50% of the earth's gravity), which corresponds to a rotational speed of about five revolutions per minute at a radius of 40 m.
