The court sentenced 15 members of a criminal group for stealing petroleum products in the Urals

The Chkalovsky District Court of Yekaterinburg has sentenced 15 members of a criminal group guilty of stealing petroleum products from tank wagons belonging to a commercial enterprise. The damage caused by their actions amounted to more than 2.8 million rubles. This was reported on October 13 in the Telegram channel of the Prosecutor's office of the Sverdlovsk region.

According to the investigation, from February to September 2022, the defendants, as part of an organized group, stole petroleum products from tank cars using rubberized hoses, draining fuel into specially equipped tanks located in cars.

"Depending on their role and degree of participation, they were found guilty of crimes under Part 4 of Article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Theft with illegal entry into another storage facility, on a large scale, by an organized group"), Part 3 of Article 30, Part 2, 4 of Article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Attempted theft")," the message says.

As a result, 15 members of the group were sentenced to imprisonment for terms ranging from 2 years and 10 months to 6 years and 10 months in a general regime penal colony. One of the defendants was sentenced to 480 hours of compulsory labor.

Earlier, on May 19, a 48-year-old driver, a 61-year-old assistant driver and a 60-year-old fuel buyer were detained in the Khabarovsk Territory for stealing diesel fuel from a diesel locomotive. During the interrogation, police officers established that the suspects had driven a truck with special equipment to the fuel tank while parking the locomotive, inserted a hose into the gas tank and began pumping fuel.
