The Federation Council denied information about the possible seizure of empty apartments

The authorities will not seize apartments recognized as empty from the owners. This was announced on October 4 by Andrei Shevchenko, Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Federal Structure, Regional Policy, Local Government and Northern Affairs, commenting on the draft law on criteria for recognizing vacant housing in the Far North.

"First of all, apartments will not be seized from citizens. I would like to note that the decision on recognizing housing as empty will be made by a commission that will be created by a local government body in accordance with the procedure it determines," he said in an interview with TASS.
