An ash eruption from the Shiveluch volcano occurred in Kamchatka. This was reported on October 4 in the Main Directorate (GU) of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the region.
"The Shiveluch volcano has spewed ash to a height of up to 3 km above sea level, ashfall in populated areas of the region is possible," the Telegram channel said.
It is reported that the plume is spreading in a southeasterly direction towards the Kamchatka Gulf, and there are no settlements in its path. At the same time, the Ministry of Emergency Situations noted that when the wind direction changes, a small amount of volcanic ash may fall in the settlements of the Ust-Kamchatsky district.
At the moment, there are no ash falls in the settlements of the region.
Earlier, on October 3, it was reported that experts had recorded 14 aftershocks in Kamchatka over the past two and a half hours. The magnitude of the aftershocks ranged from 4.0 to 5.7 points. Most of the tremors were recorded near the Avacha Bay near Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
