When looking for a job, novice specialists without work experience need to show their goals and ambitions to a potential employer, Irina Shulzhenko, Chief manager of the Roskachestvo Organizational Development Department, advised on October 3. She explained what to focus on in self-presentation to the younger generation who are just entering the labor market.

"Young professionals often underestimate their potential, forgetting that companies are looking not only for experience, but also for motivation, flexibility, learning ability and sincere interest in business. The main thing is to present yourself competently and turn even a small amount of knowledge and skills into a convincing resume," she explained.

The expert noted that it is important to focus not on what is not yet available for the desired position, but on what already exists.

"Term papers, projects, graduation papers, project activities, participation in scientific conferences, hackathons, practices — all this can and should be included in the resume, even if you were doing a project within the framework of an academic discipline, but you were solving a real problem. Tell us what goal you set, what tools you used, what difficulties you faced, and what you achieved in the end. Such examples show your approach to work, the level of responsibility and willingness to finish what you started," said Shulzhenko.

An important part of the resume is the section describing skills, in which it is important to mention not only competencies, but also personal qualities.

"Write and use examples to demonstrate the ability to work in a team, take the initiative, plan time and communicate effectively. Do not be afraid to emphasize that you learn quickly — this is what is especially appreciated by young professionals," the Roskachestvo expert added.

Special attention should be paid to the goals. Many employers are wary of candidates who do not understand what they want, so it is important to identify why the applicant chose this particular field, what attracts him to the company or position. According to Shulzhenko, a short cover letter on this topic would be a plus. Also, you should not send the same template to different organizations, it is better to emphasize your interest in a particular employer and identify future job prospects in the company.

Earlier in the day, Ekaterina Zelenkova, HR Director at PROGRESS Group, said that employers are increasingly encountering a new feature of the zoom generation - young employees who are just starting to build a career. There are cases among interns and newcomers when an employee may not come to work due to a psychological condition. According to her, millennials and older generations will "hold on to the last" and go to work even in difficult situations. Zoomers primarily think about their mental health.
