The State Duma proposed to equate employees in the air defense to combat veterans

A group of deputies has submitted to the State Duma a bill that provides for granting the status of a combat veteran to military personnel of the air defense system (air defense) involved in repelling air strikes. The document was prepared by representatives of various factions, including Dmitry Gusev (Fair Russia For Truth), Yaroslav Nilov (LDPR) and Elena Drapeko (Fair Russia for Truth), reported on October 2.

According to TASS, according to the initiative, it is proposed to amend the law "On Veterans", extending it to those who provided protection to the population, facilities and troops from air attacks using aviation, anti-aircraft missile systems, radar stations and other air defense systems.

"Today, the law takes into account volunteers and contract soldiers participating in their military operations, but people who served in the air defense system and provided protection of the sky have fallen out of the legal field. Their contribution to the overall victory is no less. Our bill restores justice — they should receive the status of combat veterans and enjoy all the benefits," Dmitry Gusev said.
