Chery confirms withdrawal of hybrid Tiggo 8 from the Russian market
Chery has removed hybrid modifications of Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8 crossovers from the Russian line. This was reported to Izvestia by the press service of the Chinese brand on October 1.
According to the company, if the Chery Tiggo 7 Plug-in Hybrid model left the market a long time ago, now the hybrid modification of the "eighth" Tiggo series has dropped out of the lineup.
"The Chery Tiggo 8 Plug-in Hybrid is a crossover that was at the top of the lineup and was intended to showcase the brand's capabilities. The car appeared on the Russian market in the fall of 2023, now the model has been removed from the website, as the time is coming for new flagships," explained representatives of the Russian office of Chery.
A special feature of this Chery Tiggo 8 was the power plant, which consisted of two electric motors and one 1.5-liter gasoline turbo engine. The total power of all engines is 235 hp, acceleration from zero to "hundred" takes 7.5 seconds.
The car is capable of covering a distance of up to 1000 km with one full tank refill and a 100% charged battery. The power reserve is 80 km only when driving on electric power (according to the NEDC method). Fuel consumption per 100 km of travel during operation in Russian-climatic conditions is from 1.5 liters, Chery stated.
Earlier, on September 17, the Nikkei newspaper reported that Chery Automobile announced its withdrawal from the Russian market by 2027 in documents for the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. The decision is related to the concern's desire to list on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in order to attract up to 9.1 billion Hong Kong dollars ($1.2 billion) and protect itself from possible sanctions when doing business in other markets. The Russian office of Chery told Izvestia that the brand is not leaving the Russian market, and there are no such plans.
