The production of the first fully import-substituted geostationary communications satellite, Express-AMU4, is scheduled to be completed in late summer and early autumn of 2026. This was announced on October 1 by Alexey Volin, General Director of the State Enterprise Space Communications.

"The launch of the finished device should take place before the end of 2026. Accordingly, the work will be completed sometime in late summer or early autumn next year," Volin said in an interview with TASS.

He said that the assembly of the Express-AMU4 satellite began last year. According to Kosmos Communications, the satellite is planned to be put into orbit at a point of 11 degrees west longitude and begin operation in March 2027. The device will provide services in Latin America, Africa, the Middle East and even Europe, if there are consumers.

On September 17, the head of Roscosmos, Dmitry Bakanov, announced that Russia intends to develop a domestic equivalent of the terminal of the American Starlink satellite communications system. The installation will not be inferior to the development of the American company SpaceX.
