- The U.S. Attorney's office has requested 11 years in prison and a fine of $500,000 for rapper P. Diddy.
The US Federal Prosecutor's Office has called on the court to sentence rapper Sean Combs, also known as P. Diddy, to a minimum of 11 years in prison for sexual crimes, and he also wants to be fined $ 500 thousand. This was reported on September 30 by Reuters with reference to the meeting documents.
"Prosecutors demanded "at least 135 months in prison" and asked the court to fine Combs $500,000," the publication says.
However, the rapper's lawyers, the agency claims, last week proposed to the judge that P. Diddy be sentenced to 14 months in prison, arguing that evidence of Combs' abuse of former girls should not be taken into account — the jury acquitted him of charges of forcing sex.
If the court makes such a decision, Combs may be released by the end of the year, as the time already spent in prison since his arrest on September 16, 2024, will be counted towards the sentence, according to Reuters.
On August 5, P Diddy's lawyer Nicole Westmoreland, along with her client, appealed to US President Donald Trump with a request for clemency. Earlier, the American leader made it clear that, most likely, he would not pardon the perpetrator. At the same time, Westmoreland expressed hope for her client's optimistic attitude.
Prior to that, on July 3, a court in New York denied rapper Sean Combs bail pending sentencing. The judge noted that the actor had not proved that he would not pose a danger outside of detention.
The New York Times reported on July 2 that a Manhattan court jury partially returned a verdict against P. Diddy, finding him guilty on two of the five counts, in particular, of transporting people for prostitution. It was clarified that the discussions lasted 12 hours.
