Federal charges have been filed against four participants in a protest against the ICE immigration service near its facility in Chicago. This was reported on September 30 by ABC News TV channel with reference to court documents.

Hubert Mazur, Ray Collins and Jocelyn Robledo and Paul Avery are charged with assault and resisting federal officers. According to the court, Avery threatened the agents and damaged the car by getting into a fight with an internal security officer. Collins and Robledo owned semi-automatic pistols, but they had legal permits.

ICE said the defendants "will be brought to justice."

The Governor of Illinois, J.B. Pritzker, said at a press conference that the actions of the federal officers were political in nature.

"This is not about fighting crime or public safety. It's about sowing fear, intimidation and division among Americans," he said.

Earlier, on September 28, ABC 7 reported that U.S. Border Patrol forces had arrived in Chicago. Arrests began in the city center, the footage of which spread on social networks. Illinois Governor Jay B. Pritzker called on citizens to know their rights and be vigilant, stressing the inadmissibility of the militarization of American cities.
