Fraudsters began to introduce malware under the guise of bank applications
Fraudsters have started using malware disguised as banking applications to steal money for contactless payments. This was announced on September 28 by the press center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
The attackers use fake contactless payment applications such as NFC Gate, which allow them to steal bank card data. The scammers are trying to install a malicious application, assuring their victims to reinstall the supposedly "banking" one.
"This application activates an NFC sensor, with which card data is transmitted to a fraudster when a smartphone is attached to the reader," the Interior Ministry said in response to a TASS request.
