Russia was not re-elected to the first two groups of the ICAO Council
During the elections to the Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Russia was not elected to the first two groups of the governing council. This was announced on September 27 in the press service of the organization.
The first group includes nine countries, including the United States, China and Brazil. There are 12 countries in the second group, including Argentina, Colombia, Mexico and India.
The members of the third group, which includes countries "providing geographical representation," will be elected on September 30 this year.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on September 24 that Russia was asking the International Organization to force individual states to stop violating international law. She added that at the opening of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, the Russian delegation announced the active development of the civil aviation industry.
