The State Traffic Inspectorate announced mass inspections of drivers over the weekend

On Friday and the last weekend of September, the State Traffic Inspectorate will conduct massive and continuous checks of drivers, special attention will be paid to the search for drunk motorists. The upcoming raids were announced by the regional departments of the department.

Traffic police will carry out preventive measures on the roads of the Tver, Kursk, Kirov, Ryazan, Ivanovo, Penza, Smolensk regions, Altai Territory, Komi Republic and other regions.

On the eve of the weekend, the State Traffic Inspectorate reminded about the inadmissibility of driving under the influence of alcohol. Mass checks on the roads to identify drivers who have got behind the wheel in a state of intoxication are carried out by traffic police on an ongoing basis.

"We kindly ask citizens who have witnessed a driver getting behind the wheel in an inadequate condition, who by his actions threatens the safety of other road users, to report this to the police. Employees of the State Traffic Inspectorate will definitely take all necessary measures to respond to such reports," Police Colonel Sergei Hrantskevich, head of the Department for road Safety Promotion and Prevention of child traffic injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, told Izvestia.

He noted that driving under the influence of alcohol, as well as refusing a medical examination, entail the deprivation of a driver's license for a period of one and a half to two years and a heavy fine. In addition, in some cases, the driver faces criminal liability for these acts, the Traffic Police stressed.

On September 12, it became known that following the results of eight months of 2025, Moscow recorded a decrease in the number of accidents involving drivers with signs of intoxication by 30.5%. The number of people killed and injured in road accidents caused by drunk drivers also decreased by 70.9% and 20.4%, respectively, during this period.
