BMW to recall about 330,000 vehicles in Europe and the United States due to fire risk
German automaker BMW AG will recall 136,000 vehicles in Germany and 195,000 in the United States due to problems with the engine starter, which may cause the car to catch fire. This was reported on September 26 by the Tagesspiegel newspaper with reference to the company's statement.
It is reported that the problem is related to the fact that in cars, water can enter the starter when driving and even if it is standing, which can lead to corrosion or a short circuit, which can later lead to a fire.
The material says that BMW 330i 2019-2021, BMW Z4 2019-2022, BMW 530i 2020-2022, X3, X4 BMW 430i, BMW 230i 2022, as well as some Toyota Supra 2020-2022 models with German starters will be recalled by the company.
The company also advised customers to park their cars outdoors rather than in the immediate vicinity of buildings to avoid casualties and damage in the event of a fire. At the same time, starter replacements will be carried out free of charge at the expense of the automaker.
In July, it was reported that Ford Motor Company was recalling 850.3 thousand vehicles in the United States due to concerns about a possible malfunction of the fuel pump. It is specified that before the fuel pump fails, drivers may notice a deterioration in engine performance, including ignition failures, uneven operation, decreased power or the Check Engine indicator lights up.
