Novak called Putin's visit to China a new impetus for bilateral relations
The visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to the People's Republic of China (PRC) has given a new impetus to the strengthening of bilateral ties. This was announced on September 26 by Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak at a meeting of the Russian-Chinese intergovernmental commission on energy cooperation in Beijing.
He recalled that the Russian leader's visit to China took place within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Tianjin in early September, as well as events marking the 80th anniversary of China's victory over militaristic Japan and the end of World War II.
"President Putin's visit to China, during which the head of the Russian state <...> held talks with President Xi Jinping in Beijing and, as the main guest, attended the Tiananmen Square parade <...>, gave a new impetus to strengthening bilateral ties," RIA Novosti quoted Novak as saying.
He added that the driving force of the Russian-Chinese partnership is the regular meetings and contacts between the leaders of the two countries.
Li Yihong, Charge d'affaires of the Permanent Mission of China to the World Trade Organization (WTO), said on September 24 that the US efforts to force China to abandon the purchase of energy resources from Russia would not affect contracts between Moscow and Beijing.
Li Hongzhong, Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, confirmed China's readiness to continue strengthening cooperation with the Russian Federation in production and supply chains at the plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum 2025 (WEF 2025) on September 5. He also noted the high dynamics of this process, supported by Putin and Xi Jinping.
