- Putin jokingly called the launch of the first Belarusian nuclear power plant a competitor for Gazprom
The launch of the first nuclear power plant (NPP) in Belarus has created a "competitor" for Russia's Gazprom. This was jokingly stated on September 26 by Russian President Vladimir Putin during a meeting with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko in the Kremlin.
"We created a competitor for Gazprom, which supplied just primary energy, and Belarus bought it. Now they are also buying, but, of course, the needs have decreased in this sense," the head of state noted.
