Over the past day, 343 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 37 people were killed and 405 injured. 30 of the dead were passengers and drivers. This was reported to Izvestia on September 26 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

So, in the Rostov region, in the evening, in rain conditions on 88 km of the Morozovsk —Tsimlyansk—Volgodonsk regional highway, a 44-year-old passenger car driver lost control and skidded into the oncoming lane, where he collided with an ambulance. The culprit of the collision and his passenger were killed in the accident. The driver and passenger of the ambulance were injured and, after receiving medical treatment, were sent for outpatient treatment. The deceased motorist had not previously been issued a driver's license.

25 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which one person was killed, and 34 more road users needed medical help. 12 bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by their drivers. As a result of 91 accidents involving pedestrians, 38 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 53 outside their area of operation, seven pedestrians were killed, and 88 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured were 17 child pedestrians, 12 of whom were injured while crossing the roadway in unidentified locations.

There were also 41 accidents involving minors, in which 49 young road users were injured, including 17 passengers, three cyclists and seven motor transport drivers. Two children under the age of 16 were killed: a teenager driving a cross-country motorcycle, as well as a one-year-old child passenger in a car driven by his drunk father, who did not have a driver's license.

For example, in the city of Sergach, Nizhny Novgorod region, a 68-year-old bus driver traveling without passengers to a garage at an unregulated intersection when turning left did not provide an advantage in traffic and collided with a 15-year-old motorcyclist who was wearing a motorcycle helmet. His vehicle was a sports equipment. The young motorcyclist died.

In the Amur region, in the evening, a 32—year-old driver drove a passenger car off the road and overturned on 7 km of the Taldan-Solovyovsk regional highway. His son, born in 2024, died in a car accident, who, in violation of the rules for the safe transportation of children, was in the arms of his mother, who was sitting in the front seat. The female passenger herself was referred for outpatient treatment with injuries after receiving medical care.

On the eve of the weekend, the State Traffic Inspectorate called on citizens who have not been trained in driving schools and have not received a driver's license, or have been deprived of them, to refrain from trying to get behind the wheel and drive onto public roads. It is doubly unacceptable to do this while intoxicated. With such reckless actions, drivers endanger not only their personal lives and health, but also the lives and health of other road users, including their passengers.

The State Traffic Inspectorate also recommended that motorists strictly observe traffic regulations and driving discipline. It is important to correctly assess the dimensions and speed of the vehicle, weather conditions, condition and width of the roadway, terrain and the possibility of skidding. Driver's discipline is especially necessary if there are child passengers in the cabin, who should be transported in compliance with all applicable safety requirements.

In addition, the State Traffic Inspectorate called on parents to strictly monitor and stop attempts by children and teenagers to get behind the wheel on their own, as well as to exclude for them the possibility of accessing the keys of cars, mopeds and motorcycles, prohibiting the management of cars and motor vehicles without the appropriate right and driving skills. Lack of control over teenagers' behavior and leisure activities, especially in the evening, can often lead to injury or even death on the roads.

"We draw the attention of parents to the administrative liability in the amount of 30 thousand rubles for allowing children who do not have a driver's license of the appropriate category to drive cars and motor vehicles. In turn, drivers of vehicles of all categories should be extremely careful when passing intersections, especially unregulated ones. Never rush to "skip" them as quickly as possible, thereby creating an obstacle for other road users," said Police Colonel Sergey Hrantskevich, head of the Department for the Promotion of road safety and prevention of child traffic injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

On September 24, it was reported that the State Duma, at a plenary session on September 24, rejected a bill that proposed writing warnings to drivers about the inadmissibility of driving cars after taking such drugs in the instructions for the use of medicines containing narcotic or psychotropic substances.
