On September 26, the American leader Donald Trump announced the introduction of duties of 100% on branded or patented pharmaceutical products from October 1.
"Starting from October 1, 2025, we will impose a 100% duty on any branded or patented pharmaceutical products, except in cases when the company is building its pharmaceutical plant in America," he said in a message on Truth Social.
According to Trump, if the construction of the manufacturing plant has already begun, the duties will not apply to its products.
On September 18, Trump announced that only the United States can impose duties against other countries. In his opinion, the duties work because "people simply have nowhere to go." As the American leader pointed out, the duties he imposed will attract investments of more than $17 trillion this year.
