A gymnast from Indonesia died after suffering a neck injury at a training camp in Penza.

A gymnast from Indonesia, who was at a training camp in Penza, died after suffering a severe neck injury during exercises. This was announced on September 25 by the press service of the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Penza region.

"On September 13, 2025, while performing exercises on the crossbar, the gymnast landed in a foam—filled pit and suffered a neck injury," the Telegram channel said.

The 19-year-old athlete was immediately hospitalized in a medical facility, but a few days later the victim died from his injury.

A criminal case has been opened into the death of an athlete on the grounds of a crime under paragraph "b" of Part 2 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Provision of services that do not meet the requirements for the safety of life or health of consumers, resulting in the death of a person by negligence").
