- The Ministry of Internal Affairs warned about fraud with fake messages about mail hacking
Scammers are engaged in sending fake email hacking notifications. This was announced on September 25 by the Department for the Organization of combating the use of information and communication Technologies (UBK) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
"The sender's name looks convincing — "Mail", but the catch is easy to spot by looking at the address. If you follow the link, a phishing form will open to change your password. By filling in all the authorization data, the criminal will have it," the department's Telegram channel warns.
The Interior Ministry added that since there are many important services associated with mail, it is necessary to check the addresses of websites and senders, as well as to teach this to loved ones.
The browser's address bar is always located at the top of the window, the true address will be indicated there, the management reminded. The department also stressed that the address of the sender of this letter will match the official domain of the organization.
Earlier, on September 24, the Interior Ministry called for observing the principle of "zero trust." It means that no user, device, or application can be considered reliable by default, even if they are on a secure network, the agency explained.
