- A businessman from Yekaterinburg was found alive in the forest after a week of searching
43-year-old businessman Fyodor Medvedev from Yekaterinburg, who disappeared in the area of the Ural mountain Konzhakovsky Stone, was found alive in the forest after a week of searching. This was reported on September 25 by a correspondent of Izvestia.
As the man told rescuers, all this time he was in the forest, and bears roamed around him. In order not to become their prey, Medvedev hid under a layer of dead wood and did not move.
"I brought birch bark, laid the top, prepared sticks, stuck a knife in. But there was water nearby, and that's where they (the bears. — Ed.) and they came. I didn't see them, it was at night. But I was lying down, just not twitching. One of them was about seven meters away from me. I was scared," the rescued man shared.
According to the man, while he was being searched, he did not hear anything — not the sound of sirens, not ATVs. On September 18, he and a group of friends went to the Konjakovsky stone to collect cones, and became the only one who did not return with all of them. At some point, he separated from his group and disappeared.
Volunteers and employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations participated in the rescue operation, the Yekaterinburg portal E1 writes. The search team reported that the man himself went out onto the road 20 m from their camp. He was taken to the central city hospital of Karpinsk for medical treatment.
Earlier that day, a woman died as a result of a bear attack in the Leninsky district of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. The regional Ministry of Health said that the patient was taken to the intensive care unit with scalped wounds and a hand injury. Dmitry, a resident of the city, told Izvestia the details of the attack. He saw the incident in the morning from the window of his apartment.
