The full launch of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant, which is being built with the participation of Rosatom, is scheduled for 2028. On September 25, Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey Zafer Demirjan told Izvestia.

"It is planned to complete the construction of the first NPP unit and put it into operation for primary energy production at the end of next year. Construction continues on the second, third and fourth floors. I think that in 2028 we will complete all these facilities and begin commercial operation," the deputy minister said.

When the full operation of the nuclear power plant begins, it will provide 10% of all electricity in Turkey, Zafer Demirjan added.

"This is a huge potential," he stressed.

On September 1, Alexey Likhachev, CEO of the Rosatom State Corporation, said that Turkey and Russia had overcome the sanctions problems in the Akkuyu NPP project. He noted that all problems that arise in the future will be solved as effectively as those caused by sanctions. Likhachev also stressed that the opponents "beat" on logistics, financing and equipment supplies, but all issues were resolved.
