The expert spoke about medical technologies from the UAE that are useful for Russia.
Until recently, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) was associated in the world exclusively with luxury vacations, skyscrapers and oil. Today, this country is confidently asserting itself on the world stage as a leader in high-tech medicine. On October 2, Kristina Tancyura, CEO and Managing Partner of SKY Consulting Group, an expert on business development in the Middle East, and head of the committee for work with the UAE and the Persian Gulf countries of the Association of Exporters and Importers, told Izvestia what experience Arab specialists can share with their Russian colleagues and what innovations are already in use in the UAE.
"The UAE is purposefully diversifying its economy by creating a new pillar sector — high-tech healthcare. The growth of the domestic market is driven by a demographic boom and the prevalence of "diseases of civilization," but the key driver is the government's policy on premium medical tourism," the expert emphasized.
Tancura noted that the UAE's significant experience includes the creation of centralized digital platforms for data integration, as well as strict quality regulation through the accreditation of doctors. In addition, the UAE Pass system operates in the country, which allows citizens and residents of the country to access thousands of services, including telemedicine platforms such as Doctor For Every Citizen.
In addition, the experience of creating accelerators that stimulate the development of startups in the field of HealthTech is equally important. An example of successful projects is the Vezeeta platform for online doctor appointments and clinic data management, which attracted $63 million in investments.
According to the expert, the most relevant areas of cooperation with the UAE for Russia may be the introduction of international JCI accreditation into the Russian licensing system and the launch of pilot programs in the field of telemedicine. An important step will also be the exchange of personnel, including internships for specialists from the Russian Federation in Emirati clinics, which will allow for the introduction of best practices in the country's regions.
"It is not possible to directly copy the UAE model in Russian conditions, but its strategic adaptation opens up concrete prospects for bilateral cooperation," concluded Tancura.
On August 7, Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a meeting with UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, said that Russia and the United Arab Emirates were actively cooperating on international platforms. Mutual investments between the two countries are only growing.
