In the Black Sea, it is impossible to meet a villain jellyfish with 20-meter tentacles, like the one that washed up on the coast of the American state of Texas. This species does not live in these waters, said Anatoly Tavrichesky, a member of the Russian Geographical Society and oceanographer, on Thursday, September 25.

"We have the largest jellyfish, this is the rootworm. They are quite large creatures, with tentacles up to 30 cm long. Meeting them can end in a burn, it's painful, but not fatal," the oceanographer said in a conversation with aif.ru .

He added that a sea dragon can also be dangerous, it does not kill, but it can sting very painfully.

Earlier, Jace Tunnel, director of public relations at the Hart Research Institute, told the Chron portal about a jellyfish with 20-meter tentacles washed up on the coast of Texas. According to him, the scientific name of the jellyfish is Drymonema larsoni, and they are also called "pink villains."

On September 22, Philip Sapozhnikov, a leading researcher at the Institute of Oceanology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, said that swimming at seaside resorts around the world is becoming less comfortable and safe due to climate change and environmental degradation.

According to the oceanologist, pools are becoming a convenient alternative to closed beaches where sharks or poisonous jellyfish can be found.
