VTB told about the main rule of banks during crises
The main rule of banks during various kinds of crises is to give money to the client without delay, said Dmitry Pyanov, First Deputy chairman of VTB, at the investment forum "Russia is calling! St. Petersburg".
"Any pause generates an avalanche of rumors and panic. We went through this in 2022 and came to the conclusion: it is better to lose liquidity on the balance sheet than customer trust," he said.
Pyanov also noted that financial indicators, such as return on equity, will help clients evaluate the bank. "Those who earn 20% ROE and above can be considered to be in the top league,— explained the first deputy chairman of VTB. As noted in VTB, this figure exceeds 20%.
He also said that VTB's current focus is on restructuring its retail business. This is due, among other things, to macroprudential regulation, high suspensions, high—frequency periods of key rate increases, and the emergence of a special format of post offices within the group (after the Bank joined the Post Office).
VTB also has "big ambitions in the transactional business and acquiring," Pyanov said.
