Over the past day, 334 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 28 people were killed and 385 injured. Among the dead, 21 people were drivers and passengers. This was reported to Izvestia on September 24 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

19 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which three people were killed, and another 28 road users, including nine children, required medical assistance. Nine bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by drivers of other vehicles.

So, in the morning, on one of the bridges over the Angara River in Irkutsk, a 23-year-old car driver collided with another passenger car during a lane change, which then crashed into a nearby city shuttle bus carrying six passengers, after which the bus overturned on the roadway. The driver of the second car and six passengers of the bus, one of whom is a 14—year-old schoolboy, were injured in the accident. All the victims were referred for outpatient treatment after receiving medical care. According to dashcam recordings and eyewitness testimony, the driver of the first car made repeated dangerous maneuvers while driving, constantly changing lanes in traffic, which led to the collision.

As a result of 92 accidents involving pedestrians, 47 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 45 outside their area of operation, seven people were killed, and 85 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured were 15 child pedestrians, seven of whom were injured while crossing the roadway in designated areas.

46 accidents involving minors were also registered, in which 51 young road users were injured, including 24 passengers, seven cyclists and four motor transport drivers. One teenager driving a moped was killed.

So, in one of the rural settlements of the Novgorod region, a 62-year-old SUV driver, when leaving the adjacent territory, did not provide an advantage in traffic and collided with a 15-year-old schoolboy on a moped moving along the main road. A minor motor vehicle driver was killed. He did not have a driver's license due to his young age.

According to the State Traffic Inspectorate, 752 accidents involving child drivers of mopeds and equivalent vehicles occurred in the Russian Federation in eight months of 2025. In such incidents, 15 minors under the age of 16 were killed and 746 injured.

One of the main reasons for the increase in accidents among underage drivers is the lack of proper adult supervision, the State Traffic Inspectorate emphasized. Parents often purchase equipment for their children themselves, such as mopeds or so-called pit bikes, which are prohibited from driving on public roads. In addition, the legal age for driving a particular vehicle is often ignored.

A driver's license with an open category "M" is required to operate a moped and scooter. You can get it after studying at a driving school from the age of 16. At the same time, it is possible to travel on a moped on public roads only in a motorcycle helmet, provided that you have perfect command of the technique of driving such vehicles.

"Parents need to strengthen control over teenagers' leisure time, as well as the availability of vehicles for them. Constantly conduct explanatory conversations with them about the rules of the road and the inadmissibility of driving motor vehicles without a driver's license," said Police Colonel Sergey Hrantskevich, head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of child traffic injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

Earlier that day, it was reported that a bill had been submitted to the State Duma, according to which the owner of a car recorded by cameras without a CTP policy would be fined no more than once a day.
