Super typhoon Ragasa struck Taiwan, killing 14 people there, The Guardian reported on September 24.

The footage released by the fire department shows flooded streets, half-submerged cars and uprooted trees.

According to the newspaper, the typhoon is now approaching Hong Kong and some other southern regions of China. They are on high alert. Earlier, the Chinese authorities were forced to close schools and businesses in at least 10 cities.

Almost 1.9 million people have been evacuated from Guangdong Province, an economic hub in southern China.

On September 22, the website of the National Center for Hydrometeorological Forecasting (NCHMF) reported that Super typhoon Ragasa would bring strong gale-force winds to Vietnam, accompanied by heavy rains.
