- The Ministry of Economic Development has proposed to introduce new categories of non-returnable goods
The Ministry of Economic Development (MAYOR) of the Russian Federation plans to consider introducing new categories of non-returnable goods to protect trade from unscrupulous buyers. This was announced on September 23 by Maxim Reshetnikov, Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, during a meeting of the Federation Council Committee on Economic Policy.
"In particular, the question arises that for some groups of goods we can make some kind of business request for a non-refundable tariff, for example, just as there is such a thing in air tickets. <...> But we will be here with you, and we will also consult with the business. We understand that these are difficult issues, consumer protection issues, and we will consult with consumer supervision," TASS quoted him as saying.
Reshetnikov stressed that there are many situations that businesses suffer from. For example, unscrupulous customers or competitors order a large number of clothes and then do not buy them back. Or after the New Year, they refuse goods that are needed only for the holiday. Also, Reshetnikov noted many situations where sellers raise the price significantly higher than the one for which they were initially ready to sell the product.
A Moneyplace study on September 18 showed that dresses, sundresses, and sunglasses are the leaders among the products from marketplaces that Russians most often return to sellers. At the same time, products with minimal risks of discontent enjoy the highest loyalty: pet food (98.9%), baby food (97.1%) and groceries (96.1%).
